Jean Coadou agreed to take the management of the race most in the North! Engaged during 32 years in the Navy, Jean had already participated in “Skippers d'Islande” during the first edition in 2000.
“Navigation in waters seldom frequented, beauty of the seascapes, navigation in the fjords, midnight sun…” Jean Coadou is not short of words when one asks him why he agreed to take the direction of this race. Formerly in the French Navy, Jean Coadou, refereed a dozen regattas each year, such as the Spi Ouest France, the Tour du Finistère, the Tour de Bretagne à la Voile... In short, a very experienced referee who also directed the Brest-Kinsale (Ireland)-Brest in 2007.
Passionate sailor and lover of the sea, Jean Coadou has always lived in the maritime world and thus, quite naturally has become Skippers d'Islande Race Director. He will officially take his functions after the approval of the French Sailing Federation, at the beginning of the year 2009.
We must remind everyone that the Skippers d’Islande race is for all boats and that two classifications will be done: class 40 and IRC.
