Following the economic crisis which hit Iceland very hard, the race in the wide "Skippers d'Islande",had been put back , the departure will well take place in 2010.
Here is what it is necessary to keep of the commitment of Iceland, by the voice of the manager of the Harbour of Reykjavik (Agust Agustsson)
"We are impatient to organize a pleasant and enjoyful time in Reykjavik. Our harbour facilities for your boats at the Reykjavík Yacht Club "Brokey" are open. I am, however, quite sure that we can organize an interesting program of events for the crews during the stopover in Reykjavik "
The departure will be given to PAIMPOL (Brittany - Côtes-d'Armor) on Sunday, June 27th, 2010, and will propose the route Paimpol-Reykjavik-Gravelines-Paimpol.
The race is taking place a few months before the departure of « La Route du Rhum » it can be an interesting trial run for the boats which will participate in it.
"Skippers D´Islande " is a race which can run solo or with a crew, and classifications by categories (Class 40, IRC) will be established according to the number of subscribers in each category.
Le départ sera donné à PAIMPOL (Bretagne – Côtes d’Armor) le dimanche 27 juin 2010, et proposera le parcours Paimpol-Reykjavik-Gravelines-Paimpol.
