A word from the Mayor of Paimpol

« The idea to organize an ambitious and original race northward to link the Breton coast with Iceland was born in June 2000 at Paimpol, It wasn’t only a strictly sports challenge but also an historic and cultural event.

Thanks to numerous support of communities, Iceland air CIE and Iceland Embassy, network built up itself, gathered by a shared enthusiasm. Three regatta, more and more important, were born, and, 2010 race promise to be an exceptional event. Gravelines, Paimpol and Reykjavik will weave maritime link which, I hope will convey a message of sports performances but also cultural richness.

We wish for this event: a great success concerning competitors and also the public's participation. I address all my encouragements to the organizer and the future sailing teams. And I already address my thanks to those which will make of the regatta 2010 a great success. »
